Born to Fight 1/22/12: Preview -Team Ranking

I will be blogging live round-by-round action at this Camo event on Sunday at the Saddlerack in Fremont, CA.  Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter to make sure you get information on this and future fights in Northern California.

Before events I like to do a little research on the fighters and fight teams, and share it with my readers.  But as amateur fighters, most at this event have few, if any, previous fights.

So I decided to look at the teams instead. Most will agree that having a good team to train with can help make a great fighter.  I’m interested in knowing which teams consistently put up more wins than losses.  I looked through the fighter records on the Camo’s website, and the team or association indicated by the fighter when registering.  I totaled wins and losses at Camo events for each team or gym represented by a fighter in the event. No doubt there are other ways to count a team’s record.  But based on the Camo records, here’s the ranking:

  1. Farley’s Kickboxing Academy (4 – 1)
  2. Combat Sports Academy (15 – 4)
  3. USH Fight Team (Cung le’s AKA) (10 – 3)
  4. Fairtex (6-3)
  5. Noble-Moreno Boxing (4 – 2)
  6. AKA (22 – 8)
  7. Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu (12 – 11)
  8. Sandro Batata BJJ (1 – 1)
  9. Dragon House (11 – 12)
  10. KO1 Fitness Academy (1 – 2)
  11. NorCal Fight Factory (1 – 3)
  12. World Team USA (0 – 3)
If you look just at the teams with the most previous fights, the top teams are AKA,  Combat Sports and Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu, all with better than “500” records.

We welcome comments.  But before you point out any errors, please note the following:  1) The teams reflect the association cited in Camo registration records. 2) Your team may have a better record, but it’s not included if it’s not represented at this event.  3) Fighters who are no longer registered with Camo aren’t included in the team totals. 4) There are other teams represented at the event, but they’re not ranked if none of their current fighters have previous fights.  Finally, please keep in mind that I scanned MANY pages of Camo data.  Now, please let me know if I missed one of your fighters or teams.

(Other teams represented include Animal MMA, Ernie Reyes West Coast World Martial Arts, Fearless Fitness, Gilbert Castillo/Red Triangle, Schutz MMA, Team Cissero/Cissero BJJ, Team Serao, Team Tretton, The Pit and West Valley College.)
